I take a holistic approach to education, recognizing that academic success is just one aspect of a fulfilling life. I work closely with my students to identify their learning styles, goals and aspirations, and I strategically integrate those elements in the design and delivery of instructional materials, so students can develop the skills and mindset needed to achieve their academic goals and professional aspirations. I offer a wide range of support students at all levels, including academic tutoring, test preparation, college admissions counseling, and more. My support is tailored to the unique needs of each student to ensure the best possible outcomes.

As a professional educator with 16+ years of teaching ethics, including business and environmental logic, philosophy of religions, educational foundations, curriculum theory, social justice (race, gender, and class issues), and qualitative research, I hold the view that research and pedagogy work in tandem. As such, I dedicate 7x times more on research, writing, and publishing as the amount of time I spend in the classroom to ensure that my instructional materials remain sound and research-based.
My journey from the tumultuous streets of Haiti to the corridors of academia and corporate leadership embodies the essence of the American dream. Born amidst political upheavals, I endured the harrowing realities of violence and instability, yet emerged undeterred, guided by an unwavering spirit and an insatiable thirst for knowledge.
Emigrating to the United States at the age of 19, I embarked on a remarkable trajectory of academic excellence and professional accomplishment. As the fourth of six siblings, I navigated through perilous circumstances where dodging stray bullets became a routine necessity. However, amidst the chaos, I found God as my true North Star, and solace in education, recognizing it as the beacon of hope amidst turmoil.
My educational odyssey began at Cairn University (no pun intended, but that is also where I read the Odyssey and learned about the connection between my last name and the epic’s protagonist) where the seeds of intellectual curiosity were sown. Although I was initially hesitant about furthering my education beyond those 2 years, a pivotal encounter with a college mate rekindled my determination, propelling me to the University of Northwestern in Saint Paul, MN, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in religious philosophies, marking a milestone as a first-generation college graduate.
Undeterred by challenges, I pursued higher learning with relentless fervor, earning a master's degree in theology/religious philosophies from Trinity International University, followed by a doctorate from National Louis University at a remarkably young age of 32. A firm believer in the power of diversification, I augmented my academic training with an MBA, a testament to my commitment to continuous growth and evolution.
Throughout my career, I seamlessly transitioned between academia and corporate realms, leaving an indelible mark at esteemed institutions such as Kraft Foods, JP Morgan Chase, and presently at Amazon Corp. Because of that, I am truly a hybrid breed of business professional and higher education scholar, which enables me to bring business to higher education through management science, and conversely education to business settings through instructional design and training development.
My pedagogical approach in the classroom is multidimensional, dynamic, inclusive, and spatiotemporal, valuing safe space and integrating students’ working knowledge, learning needs, academic skills, and learning styles. It permeates my teaching process from design to delivery and assessment and circles back iteratively, with the objective to keep all students on task, all learning styles engaged, and more importantly that catalyze the achievement of relevant learning outcomes. I have successfully done so at Waubonsee Community College, Elgin Community College, and National Louis University.
A prolific scholar and speaker, I have contributed significantly to academic discourse, collaborating on seminal publications, presenting at prestigious conferences across North America, and penning several influential books and chapters. My quest for knowledge knows no bounds, as evidenced by my pursuit of a third master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Colorado State University.
Grounded in the ethos of the American dream, I believe that education and connections, both strong and weak, represent guideposts that can help students chart their course to academic and professional success. That philosophy drives my passion for learning, teaching, and research, which I bring with me wherever I go.
